Col suspends 'Hollow' due to thesp's injury

When Elisabeth Shue tore her Achilles tendon while working out at the gym a few weeks ago, the injury was not only painful, but ill-timed.

The actress was in the process of shooting Columbia’s “The Hollow Man” for director Paul Verhoeven when the accident occurred. However, instead of replacing the actress, Columbia has announced it will suspend filming temporarily until Shue recovers. Lensing will resume in August, with a scheduled shift to locations in Washington, D.C., studio prexy Amy Pascal announced.

Shooting began in April on “Man,” which stars Kevin Bacon as a scientist at work at a secret government facility. When he perfects a formula for invisibility, he tests it on himself. Unable to reverse its effects, he turns to colleagues for help, but slowly descends into madness while waiting for a cure. Shue plays a scientist peer along with co-star Josh Brolin.
