Kelly Clarkson recently delivered a magical performance of “Over the Rainbow” as part of the Kellyoke segment of her talk show. The singer kept the cover simple, backed only by an acoustic guitar.
Kelly Clarkson Covers ‘Over the Rainbow’ on Talk Show
Clarkson has a regular segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show called Kellyoke, in which she performs covers of popular songs. During a recent episode, the singer took on “Over the Rainbow,” originally sung by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz.
She was accompanied by her guitarist Jaco Caraco for the performance, opting not to include other instruments. Because of this, Clarkson’s voice was highlighted even more. She brought a beautiful emotion to the performance, starting soft and then belting it out.
At the end of the song, multicolored lights appeared behind Clarkson and Caraco, creating the rainbow referred to in the song’s lyrics. The crowd cheered for Clarkson’s impressive performance. Commenters on YouTube also praised the cover.
One user wrote that it was the song in “its purest form.” Another wrote that they wanted Clarkson to release it on another Kellyoke album so they could dance to it at their wedding.
